DOUG CARTER: There's an old adage that says that he who represents himself has a fool for a lawyer. In car wreck cases, that actually isn't always the case. There are times when an individual, when a person who has been in a car wreck, does not need a lawyer. And like with all of the cases that we handle, if that is the case, we will readily tell you. We will share with you that you do not need to hire us or for that matter anyone else.
But the reality is that in most instances, in most cases, a person will do a lot better if he or she has competent council on his or her side.
The insurance adjustor that talks with you may want you to think he or she is your friend. They may want you to think they are fair and that they are there in a reasonable way to take care of you. But the truth is that's a lie.
