As summer draws to a close, thousands of Missouri school children are headed back to class. Many of these children will rely on busses to transport them safely to school. Unfortunately, these buses are not immune to accidents. Like all mass transit accidents, school bus accidents have the potential to cause serious damage to passengers and other accident victims.
Unfortunately, even this early in the school year, some children have had to deal with a bus accident. According to reports, a school bus was stopped on a Missouri road at the time of the accident. It was stopped in order to drop students off. Apparently, the stopped bus was then rear-ended by a pickup truck.
As a result of the accident, four students on the bus were hurt. They were taken to a local hospital. Thankfully, the injuries proved to be only minor. Following the accident, the school district claims that safety is its number one priority. They also said that parents were immediately notified of the accident and that the bus driver followed all proper protocol in responding to the crash.
When someone is injured in a mass transit accident, it is important for that person to understand the person’s legal rights. If a negligent driver caused the accident, then the victim may be entitled to compensation. The pursuit of compensation can vary based on the type of vehicle involved. If a mass transit vehicle was involved, for example, a mass transit company or school district might also be held liable for compensation.
