Doing The Right Thing: Founder Doug Carter
Our founding attorney Doug Carter grew up in a small town. His father was a state trooper, and his family was active in their local church. One thing his folks made sure he learned early on was the difference between right and wrong.
After he graduated from Duke University School of Law in 1981, Doug worked for one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the United States. He represented employers, insurance companies and elite businesses. He learned how those folks think and operate. But over time, Doug came to realize that he wasn’t always on the right side. That’s when, in 1996, he started his own firm.
Doug chaired the Nursing Home Negligence Committee of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and is active in a number of professional organizations. Trained by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, he teaches trial techniques to other lawyers and served as the in-house trainer for associate attorneys at his previous large law firm.
